It is said that yoga finds you when the time is right. That saying certainly turned out to be true for Claire Hugon! Ashtanga yoga found her in 2010 when she was severely depressed and after a few months of practice with Gemma Daou, her first teacher, she felt better than ever. In 2012 She attended the first of many retreats in Crete with Kristina Karitinou, who became and still is her main teacher. She has completed her teacher training course with Manju Patthabi Jois and Kristina in Crete! She has also spent two months at Kaliyoga in Italy as a "karma yoga" worker and had a great time cooking, cleaning, welcoming retreat guests and attending Tashi Dawa's yoga classes.
"My wish in teaching yoga is to allow as many people as possible to discover and embrace this life-changing practice, and to convince students that there is no need to be thin and flexible to start yoga, it is for everybody ! I encourage my students to come to yoga with an open mind and a benevolent heart, to approach it with confidence and playfulness, to peel off the layers of dust, hesitation, and heaviness that life lays on us and to go back to our inner, spontaneous child" - Claire Hugon
Claire teaches every Wednesday afternoon at the studio @18.30-20.30! Starting in September, Let's Yoga offers a new Ashtanga for beginners package taught by Claire. 20 hours of teaching (10x2 hours) in small groups of 4 to 8 people.
This 10-class course is designed to give beginners enough practical knowledge and confidence to join a led- or Mysore (self-practice) Ashtanga class.
We will go through the fundamentals of Ashtanga yoga (breathing, bandhas, poses and alignment...) in small groups so as to ensure a lot of personal attention. Step by step, we will learn how to connect our breath to our movements in this dynamic practice, how to safely approach poses and adapt them to our bodies - and not our bodies to the poses ! After this 10-class course, practitioners will have gained confidence and independence and be able to practise the Ashtanga first series up until Navasana (half-first series), either in a led class or by themselves in a self-practice setting.
When ? On the following Wednesday nights, 18h30-20h30. September 7, 20 and 27; October 4, 11 and 18; November 8, 15, 22 and 29.
For whom ? For complete beginners, new or out-of-practice yogis who wish to go back to the basics
How much ? 150 euros for the 10 classes. We ask practitioners to commit to the full course in order to build a solid foundation for the practice. However, we can always make arrangements if you need to change one class. Classes will be taught in French unless the whole group would prefer English
Subscriptions will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis; a new 10-class courses will start at the beginning of December. For more information, please contact Claire (firstname.lastname@example.org)
