Friday 24/04 Evening Workshop I
Deepening Sensations 19:00-21:00
Ashtanga yoga practice is a meeting point between the body and mind.
Through development of the practice and philosophy of ashtanga yoga we begin to understand, experience and work with how we sense ourselves through pure vinyasa or the true relationship we have with our body and breath.
We meet ourselves at the end of a week and the beginning of a weekend. Seeing this meeting point open up, we will drop into allowing the sensations of the body and mind to be experienced as they become attuned to the awareness of practice and life.
This evening class will work on the subtle relationships found within a yoga practice. Using mindful principles, connecting breath, philosophy, movement and sound we will deepen our awareness, discovering that the practice of Ashtanga yoga can become a deeply contemplative experience. Moving from stillness of body and breath to then holding this stillness as we move through the fluidity of vinyasa.
Saturday 27/04 (Ashtanga Assisted Self Practice (Mysore) )
8.00am-10.00am-Self practice Group A
10.15am-12.15am-Self practice Group B
Saturday 25/04 Afternoon Workshop II
Expanding Awareness Through Intentions 14:00-16:00
The ashtanga yoga practice is based on vinyasa, the art of a movement and breath sequence. In this workshop, we will work on developing, through the lens of technique and individual/paired work, the ability to see ourselves through the process of vinyasa, experiencing insight into how breath movement in ashtanga yoga wakes us up to what it means to practice and what we are actually practicing for.
We will see that the paradox of an ashtanga yoga practice is the ability to slow down and refine movement into one of understanding our own unique patterns.
This afternoon class will also be looking at movement patterns within the framework of the ashtanga yoga practice. We will endeavour to discover and enhance our own individual freedom of movement with the ashtanga yoga system.
We will also see that yoga philosophy comes alive in the intention we bring to our practice. A discussion on philosophy, together with chanting, will help us to blend all the elements of yoga practice together.
