Yoga Therapy special workshop with Martina Krizikova 19/09

Back to Basics - Yoga as Therapy
We will revisit the basic movement patterns of the spine: forward bends (flexion), backbends (extension), side bends (lateral flexion) and twists (axial rotation) and see how they are manifested in the typical yoga postures (asanas) such as the triangle pose (trikonasana).
The most important aspect is to learn how to feel, if we are doing these movements properly (not how the asana should look) in order to mobilize all the joints of the spine for optimal and painfree mobility, nerve conduction, blood flow etc.
We will apply the principles of yoga therapy and learn what options we have in asana practice in order to make our practice therapeutic i.e. what are the elements in each pose, what options we have, how to move blood effectively through our system without making the heart beat faster, how to build strength without creating tension and how to develop flexibility in the body without feeling a stretch. You will leave the workshop with an understanding of these principles that you can apply to any asana practice, ashtanga sequences, vinyasa flow, hatha yoga etc.
